Deeply Ogilvized

Published on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 @ 9:57 AM and clicked 63 times

For today is Wednesday, same as my starting day of work at Ogilvy, hence I considered it’s worth saying some words about my new job which I really hope to keep for a serious amount of time.

Initially, let me congratulate the wonderful staff here at OgilvyKS who did that marvelous work of NEWBORN.
It was an amazing piece of work, incomparable and prominent one, carved in everyone’s heart and mind. I feel very honored meantime fortunate to have been part of that wonderful team. Everyone has been fully committed to it, this way pouring their own maximal potential and energy so to finalize NEWBORN on time and as perfect as possible. Proudly I can say that we did it.

Today it is my 23th day working there as a web developer, under the OgilvyKS Interactive department and I must admit the fact that I am enjoying it completely. Sincerely, never thought that existed such a company here (in Kosova) with a perfect work strategy as Ogilvy’s. I’m fascinated, glad to finally meet one.
What is Ogilvy? Let me answer to that question very quickly and understandably: Ogilvy is an international advertising, marketing and public relations agency, Period. Besides Ogilvy & Mather has it’s own branches worldwide with 502 offices spread in 161 cities all around the world. Enough explanation from me, to get a closer look about the company check the link here, visit here or search in Google.

The work conditions are unquestionable, above all the environment has it’s own warm and familiarity which attracts you in an unnoticed way, the more you go there the more you like it in there. What I admire the most is the friendly relation between the director who even though has a very sounding voice treats it’s subordinates in an unseen kind way. The communication between everybody is simply extraordinary.

I really don’t want to continue elaborating in detail everything, for I could write the whole night though, think it’s better to provide some pictures where you can experience at least a very small feeling of what I’m loving more and more each day. Take a closer look below. . .

If you happen to raise your head and look up the roof, this is what you will see.

Immediately on the right side after you enter the office are the steps to the second floor.

Well, now it’s time to see the area where I work. All about the second floor, follow me . . .

Finally we're there, this is it, creative and interactive department.

Except work, what's wrong with being engaged to being updated with football match results??

Of course fun times do not miss either!

This is our brainstorming room.
Self explanatory.

Only God and he who wrote it can understand.

Finally, more or less this is all about it, of course it’s only the outer part, the only way to experience the real thing is to live in the inner side.
Last but not least, I’d like to thank my friend Gega for introducing me to this great company.

Reborn

It’s been a while though, but I’m here back again, it’s another return of me. Let me give you my justifications and explain my absence. Officially I am writing from my NEWBORN country Kosova.

Not sure if you have heard or not, Kosova is the newest country in the world now, our government unanimously declared independence on the 17th of February, this means that my country is the new born state of the world. To date, there are a few countries who declared formal acceptance of Kosova’s free will for self-governing, better to say free living as it deserves to, but soon there are more to come and each day the list of such countries is getting larger. Kosova Thanks YOU offers the list of most of the countries who recognized Kosova as a state. We also got a state flag.

Why I told you this? Well, I should have though for it’s something that influences me directly and indirectly, plus if and only you didn’t hear about that, you could update your self with something new.
Our independence was also the reason that kept me pretty much busy during all this time. The company I work right now OgilvyKS, had the opportunity to be a serious part of the whole organization. What we did here has been marked everywhere, we put a sign on memory. What we did was a real big thing, something that is being repeatedly discussed, photographed and filmed. We build the NEWBORN sculpture which was revealed on that day, it was huge, it is yet actually.

I was lucky enough to start working at Ogilvy right before the plans for creating NEWBORN and I’m pretty much overjoyed to be remembered as a staff member of it.
What was I engaged indeed during this time is the construction of a BLOG for NEWBORN where we can post articles and people are able to comment, suggest and criticize, why not?
Besides, I was some sort of a reporter from my hometown Prizren, for NEWBORN has been revealed in the capital city of Kosova, in Prishtina. In Prizren we did something else also interesting and fabulous, a 3500m national flag carried by 1878 persons was displayed to the public on that day. I was able to take quite some pictures I can tell, if you’re curious you can simply visit my Flickr profile. Eventually, you can realize that I has been very busy, although obligations are not gone away yet. The NEWBORN-KOSOVA.com blog should have been maintained, hence I posted there together with my other colleague Valon and posting there and here same time pretty much wasn’t possible. I always try to avoid posting trash, I needed to prepare something useful and attractive.
NEWBORN is 9 days old now and currently we’re thinking of where to reposition it as a whole, in behalf of this there’s a discussion going on our blog, so feel free to jump in. Everyone is welcomed to comment, whether you’re a Kosovar or a foreigner who was once in Prishtina and is familiar with the city at some level.

For lot of more detailed information about newborn KOSOVA visit our blog, flickr, or ask me ;) . I’ll provide the links below:

Now allow me to get to the point, as I return today I’d like to announce what you should be expecting very soon.
A lot of changes has been going on lately, hence, I have planned couple of articles I am going to blog here, two of them are almost ready but a review is necessary. Although I’m familiar with the expression “curiosity has killed the cat” it’s more preferable though to not publicize the titles at this time, you may find them more interesting when available I guess.
The 12′th episode of HelixTECH should have been ready by now, but there are some distance issues I cannot get to finalize it immediately.

Tomorrow I hope to post the place where I work, I find it very comfortable here (I am writing from the office).
Ogilvy honestly has fascinated me, my preferable work style is applied here, which I admire it vs. the bureaucratic and dictatorial one. I wanna be here for some serious long time.

Thank you for visiting my blog, thank you for downloading my iPad Theme, thank you for subscribing onto my feeds, above all thank you for frequently returning here. Cheers.

Update: There’s a widget on bottom of the sidebar called Skribit whereby you can suggest a topic you want me to write for, I’d be glad if you could push me in this direction.

Very short hint

At times obligations excess the possibility to do some sort of other things, like posting regularly and trying to realize different things perfectly on time, not that I’m saying that I consider blogging here is not important but simply it’s fairly impossible to.

Hence, to excuse myself somehow from within this situation I’m providing a video which I think will be interesting for you so I can pull me out unnoticed and innocent. ^_^

This is what I currently do except other social tasks I’m heartily engaged to, including blogging, working at Ogilvy, working privately at weekends, trying continuously to keep in good condition my girlfriend relation and much more.
The female on the video is my colleague and she’s the only female going through the Military Officer training program. Al Jazeera interviewed her last week and on behalf of her (A.), a short movie has been filmed by them.
Army isn’t an easy thing to accomplish though, whatsoever, I’m using my whole available potential to manage all the things as perfectly as possible.

Don’t forget to check back very soon for I have prepared some new articles for you to read, it’s just a matter of days or maybe hours that I will post those, but my country is expecting the so long awaited independence to be declared by the government this weekend hopefully, and after that kinda performing a defragmentation on my head is pretty much needed, basically will put everything on it’s place probably :D , till then, enjoy you’re living days.
Cheers!

Update: I forgot to list the university up above as a task, Computer Science exams to be more exact, but according to the post it seems like it’s not that much of a burden. ;)

iPad Theme for WordPress *Updated*

Discontinued

iPad is my first theme I designed for my personal weblog but upon creation decided to offer it as a free download for the public.
It is a simplistic, light-weight and widget ready two-column WordPress theme that displays right on both popular browsers Firefox and Internet Explorer.
Currently tested only on WordPress 2.3.x but from other comments seems to works just fine even on previous WordPress versions (like WP 2.1.x & WP 2.2.x).
Hard-coded on Notepad2, hence, for the sake of that and for the sake of my lovely iPod Nano third generation I decided to take the first letter from iPod and the last three letters from Notepad and append them together, in the end it came out iPad.

History:

1.1 ~ Update: Sidebar reconstruction and <h2> post title restyle
~ Update: Added more html tag styling
~ Update: Proper code indention for better readability
~ New: Comment form restyled
~ Fix: Recent Posts failed to load the styling
~ Fix: Theme now looks the same in Internet Explorer and Firefox

1.0.1 ~ Fix: Blockquote image wasn’t positioning correctly.

1.0.0 ~ Initial release

Known issues:

* Sidebar floats to the left and goes under the content of the page if browsers window narrows.
Tried everything but currently I cannot realize why it does that and neither I can manage to correct it.

Feel free to give suggestions ;)
