If it was the real life flow comparing to how quick 22 years passed, we wouldn’t even be able to plan for our daily ongoings. I’d say they did this on purpose, maybe wanted to drag me down and revenge to my accusations, but however I like the way it happened.

So here it is at last, final release of WordPress 2.5 is available for download today, announced six minutes ago (*as I’m writing this) I was fortunate to catch this though, for I just got out of my confinement here at the academy. Currently there are no pingbacks so I strongly believe I’m the first one to post-back after Matt.

A long description of what’s new has been included so you better jump right there and read that for your self.

This time I won’t provide a direct link to download the file, instead you can visit the downloads page and see the new implemented interface of the whole WordPress.org web page ;) Looks nice I can tell.

Also I want to use the shot to revert my saying in the previews post about the vulnerabilities and stuff, so you can assuredly upgrade now, but first be sure to test it on your local host. Be sure not to forget and check the compatibility list of supported plug-ins and the upgrade guide page.

Glad to be the first.

Update: finally came around a change log of WordPress 2.5 thought you might be curious to have a look on it. Read Here

It’s weird though, but to me seems like a pretty much quick response to my question, the next Release Candidate is here, I just woke up and kinda still feeling sleepy and unfocused, and for unknown reason I just visited the Release Archive and believe me it is there. WordPress 2.5 Release Candidate 3 is available for download. Although I’m confused of where this chasing will eventually end, anyways looks like when under stress people usually tend to be more productive ;) .

VWIs it just me or this two logos have something in common ?? Maybe it’s just because of mine somnolence so I better get back to sleep.

WordPress 2.5 became RC2, where’s the final ?

Two days ago Matt Mullenweg notified about the availability of RC2 of WordPress 2.5, this time elaborating some new features, and the soft look of the administration panel. WordPress growth is moving up pretty fast but the final version is still to be expected within an unset date. The closest potential deadline of the final release is “Due in 22 years (04/01/30).”

There is more than 75% finished work, with 730 closed tickets, and the remaining active tickets amount is 240 which makes only 1/3 of the closed ones, however they concluded it’ll take up to 22 years to close those.

Below is a screencast made by Matt, navigating through the admin panel, posting a new topic, uploading pictures, and claiming 2.5 new comfortability. It gives a closer view of what major changes has WordPress overlived since the 2.3 release.

Although I don’t see no Changes Log of what happened from RC1 to RC2, yet if you want to keep track of RC’s, the last release is available for download here.

I was planning to upgrade soon, however, think it’s better to be awaiting RC feedback though, for new unexpected vulnerabilities may arise at anytime. What could come to our interest is a published list of compatible plug-ins with 2.5, so if you’re planning to upgrade even in RC2 be sure to check that list before continuing.

Publicize your blog content

Hola! As I can realize lately I’m getting committed to blogging more and more each day, it’s an undeniable fact of a very obvious build-up of a personal experience in the blogosphere and growth of gained knowledge. I’m reading as much as I possibly can from a various number of many other very good writers out there, discussing the best techniques of blogging, how-to’s, tutorials and other stuff this way trying to absorb as much knowledge as I can, to eventually in the near future master at some point the proper way of blogging principles regardless of the tool for it being used. What I recently concluded is the need of making your blog public, raising the number of visitors and gaining traffic. To achieve this (among many other tasks one should do) it is necessary to use some extra plug-ins for giving to a visitor the opportunity to bookmark your post (if attracts them of course :p).

I’m a WordPress fanatic, you see, and therefore my interest and contribution is aimed towards it. In this particular post I’ve pushed myself a little to collecting some of social bookmarking WordPress plug-ins for sharing post contents throughout many popular bookmarking sites like Digg, Technorati, del.icio.us, StumbleUpon, ReddIt, Furl and so on. When it comes to social bookmarking out there exists a very serious number of sites offering this type of service, but they differ from one another based on many criteria, lets say more useful features, user interface and such. According to some information Digg.com is the lead of this list.

Whatsoever, I’ve created a list of those WordPress plug-ins starting from the most popular ones and providing a logo of each (if available), the author of the plug-in, download link and description, read below and enjoy:

Note: this collection is based upon most used plug-ins by many bloggers.

  1. share-this-icon Plug-in name: ShareThis
    Author: Alex King
Info: ShareThis makes a WordPress plugin that provides an unobtrusive way for your visitors to post your site content to various social bookmarking sites, or send a link via e-mail & other communication channels (like Facebook and MySpace) to a friend.

  2. digg-logoPlug-in name: Digg It!
    Author: Tuggo.org
Info: digg IT! is a widely used plug-in that detects incoming links from Digg.com to your wordpress post and automatically display a link back to the digg post, for people to digg your story.

  3. wpsoc_example_2 Plug-in name: Socialable
    Author: Joost de Valk
Info: Socialable automatically adds links on your posts to popular social bookmarking sites like Facebook, Mixx, StumbleUpon, Digg and many many others.

  4. bookmark Plug-in name: Add to Any Bookmark Button
    Author: Micropat
Info: Add to Any Bookmark Button Lets readers share, save, and bookmark your posts using any service, such as Delicious, Digg, Facebook, MySpace, and all the rest. The Bookmark button comes with a drop-down menu that appears on rollover.

  5. sbwp Plug-in name: Social Bookmarks for WordPress
    Author: Apostolos Dountsis
Info: Social Bookmarks is a WordPress plugin that adds a list of XHTML compliant graphic links at the end of your posts that allow your visitors to easily submit them in a number of different social bookmarking sites. It features an AJAX front-end interface.

  6. social-list
    Plug-in name: Social bookmark links
    Author: Thomas, aka TwisterMc
Info: The Social Bookmark Links is an online tool that makes creating pre-coded social bookmark links a snap. Buttons include Google Bookmarks, StumbleUpon, Squidoo, Del.icio.us, Spurl, Digg and many more.

  7. Plug-in name: Social Bookmarking RELOADED
    Author: Valent
Info: The Social Bookmarking RELOADED plugin for WordPress adds a list of XHTML compliant graphic links at the end of our posts and/or pages that allow your visitors to easily submit them in a number of social bookmarking sites.

  8. reddit Plug-in name: Reddit this!
    Author: Ajay D’Souza
Info: JPF Add to Reddit the JPF Add to Reddit plug-in is a social bookmarking plug-in that allows users to submit posts to Reddit.com.

Well, I think eight is more than enough though, for what you need to use is only one of them (I’m actually using two), there may be a few more but it’s unworthy searching for more while one fulfills the real need. For your curiosity I’m currently using diggIT! and Socialable, although Socialable offers a link to digg.com as well, yet I like diggIT! too for it’s much obvious and noticeable, fortunately no interference occurs when activated both plug-ins ;)

But this however won’t be working alone, let me give you a tip. After activating any of this in your WordPress and waiting for the visitors to bookmark your posts is vain. What you really should do is first become a member of some of either site (to date I’m a user of Digg.com, Technorati and Del.icio.us) and bookmark your particular post first (as I will do with this post after publishing it), then your link will appear on the site and if you’re lucky, users browsing the section where you bookmarked you’re link may want to bookmark it too if comes to their interest. This way the process will float but with the initial step taken by you.

That’s it, enjoy blogging and bookmarking.

Announcing WordPress 2.5 RC1

Published on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 @ 1:54 AM and clicked 31 times

I occasionally browse WordPress.org, but as I am writing, it happens to be the very right moment I guess for in front of me I’m facing the announce of WordPress 2.5 RC1 release made by Matt Mullenweg.

Although today the final version should have been more than ready, according to the dates I’ve published in my earlier post, nevertheless we’re getting a very welcomed Release Candidate of the newest version of WordPress, the 2.5 upgrade. They say first impression counts, and believe me it really does. I’m glad to see the changes, let that be the layout, reorganization of the admin panel or even the new features coming with this release. Of course I immediately downloaded and installed it on my localhost, currently I’m enjoying what you may be missing, so don’t waste your time and grab it right away.

Below I’ll provide a set of screenshots I just did on my computer so you can take a look of it from a closer view.

The Other WordPress News feeds now are editable which gives you the opportunity to display less blocks of news on the dashboard. Doubtlessly I should mentioned the new redesigned writing page, perfectly organized and its clean light and comely look. I’m impressed by the work that has been done on this release, definitively should be applauded.

As for the final release of this version Matt says that it’s basically ready, but they’re interested in users feedback.

The software is basically done and stable, and could be released today, but we’d like to incorporate feedback from a wider audience before making it available to the general public. After a few days of your feedback we’ll set a final release date. Personally, I can’t wait.

It is a nicely put cover of the release delay if you ask me, however handing out this RC has calmed our curiosity down a little.

I’d say is the talent behind the photographers combining their creativity and ability to picture things so perfectly this way providing a great wonderful image at the end, whether manipulating it on any image processing applications or not. On the right side is a perfect portrait shot from *Shutterbug Gal* among many other shots she captures occasionally, what is the strange thing here is that unexpectedly I think that I’m in love with her. The treatment she does to here photographs are marvelous. Enjoy the view.
