I’m indeed feeling a little bit angry. Why do I always have to be the last one to be aware of new things about WordPress. Although I haven’t posted in a while now, keeping track of WordPress events is something that can’t keep me silent.
Ryan Boren just posted about the latest made changes, and believe me the list is quite impressive. He states that 2.6 isn’t a big release as 2.5 was, but I honestly think that this is it, this is how WordPress should be actually. Probably this should have been the “big” 2.5 release. But anyway, here’s the list of new stuff one can experience if one gets 2.6 installed.
- Post Revisioning
- A “Press This” bookmarklet for tumblelog style quick posting
- Caching of static files with Gears for faster Admin page loads
- A new and improved image editing dialog that offers lots of control over the images in your posts
- Theme previewing as seen on WordPress.com
- Built-in word counting in the post editor
- The ability to disable remote publishing for the security conscious
- XML-RPC API for changing blog options
- Better SSL support for the Admin
- Hierarchy-aware paging in the Manage Pages and Manage Categories admin pages.
- The ability to relocate your content directory
- The ability to move wp-config.php out of your web root
- Drag-and-drop sortable galleries
- Customizable default avatars
- Bulk delete, activate, and deactivate for plugins
- Check box range selection with shift-click
- TinyMCE 3.1.0.1 with lots of bug fixes
- jQuery 1.2.6 with some nice performance improvements
- jQuery UI 1.5
- Lots of bug fixes and performance improvements
I’m preparing to go out for a tennis match with my cousin, but surely as soon as I return, a brand new WP 2.6 review is expected to show up here. In mean time, if your curiosity pushes you to get hands dirty on 2.6 earlier click and grab it here right away. Laterz.
It’s been a while since I’ve uploaded a new photo in my Flickr photostream.
P.S. i’ve kept this write post window opened for half of the day now while not knowing what to say about it. So now I think I’m finishing it.

Even occasional surf leads to interesting stuff. Sometimes you just drop on a strange site you’ve never ever seen nor heard before. But there’s something that attracts you by any means. And then it’s kinda nice to share it with others.
This is how I currently feel, probably you won’t laugh as much as I did, or even not find it funny but it’s always worth giving it a try. Hope you’ll find it a little entertaining. Whether yes or not, don’t hesitate to shout a comment, it costs you only a few words

But despite of the image, we as humans are expected to always try hard. Even if we’re mushrooms.
It became what it should have been in the beginning. Windows Live Writer team has released an update of their product with significant changes which directly impact Writer users. If they’d have made this improvements a little bit earlier, probably would have saved my time from being forced to finalize my posts from within WordPress admin panel. Speaking of it, Windows Live Writer is publishers number one favorite tool for blogging. If you ever got a chance to drink a coffee with me, most probably you could hear me declare: “There are only two products Microsoft deserves to be acknowledged of, Visual Studio and Windows Live Writer.” In a nutshell, following are the latest changes.
New Features for users:
Video and Image Publishing Enhancements
- Upload videos to Soapbox
- Image cropping and tilting
- Additional border styles
- Support for LightBox and other image previewing effects (like Slimbox, Smoothbox, and others)
- Support for centering images
Editing Enhancements
- Auto Linking
- Smart quotes/typographic characters
- Word count
UI Improvements
- Revised main toolbar
- Tabs for view switching
- Improved category control with search/filtering
New for developers:
SDK Updates
What is pretty much obvious once you fire up Live Writer are the tabs to change from three different modes: Edit, Preview and Source. In previous versions this was done only through main menu, now tabs came as a very useful addition.

We all love it for it’s simplicity, or at least I do. However, some source claims that Gmail soon will get built-in themes available for it’s users.
I’m not even going into wondering of how the themes will look like or how many of them will be, but what pushes me to write about this, is the thought of why didn’t they make it earlier. Google’s engagement has certainly been much higher upon dealing with troubles caused by other competitors and other particular things rather than worrying about Gmail themes. Plus it could be intentional but the BETA tag still remains there, 4 years and 3 months since it’s initial launch a lot could have been accomplished, considering the fact of Google having 19,156 full-time employees under its giant empire, yet it remains there.
Ultimately, users are able to change the look & feel of GMail, but that in an indirect way of approach, through a GreesMonkey script, using a Firefox extension called Stylish with one, two, three or more user created styles, and again through another Firefox add-on.
If you ask me, there’s no certain need to do that, whether or not Gmail is skinnable makes no real impression to me.
Its functionality is what I like the most.
My honest readers!
I’m very sorry of my absence during all this time.
The last two weeks I’ve gone through a serious fuss with many issues and troubles. Hopefully managed to settle everything down and renormalize again. I’ve put to it’s end another heavy year of my military studies, in the other hand the Computer Science part is almost over, actually it’s over with lectures I just have to deal with the rest of left exams. But that’s trivial for I usually manage it right therefore I don’t panic so much. What matters to me is YOU, the reader, the returning visitor, I’m barely fine without you.
Sincerely, nothing makes more happy to see most of you returning, eventhough I haven’t served you anything new for so long. In relation to that, I wanted to say a big THANK YOU to each of you in particular, while letting you know that during these summer holidays as I’m off from school, I’ll completely engage myself to providing you with interesting articles and various stories from different topics.
While wishing you all the best and a great week, I put this announcement to it’s end and hoping for future contact with everyone.
P.S. I’ve got a new camera hence you could browse my Flickr photostream to enjoy my latest shots, I’m gonna prepare an article for my Canon Rebel XSi.
Cheers, may God bless YOU all!
